BEWARE of the self anointed 'dealers'. I'm sure you have noticed
them. This is probably the only profession where you can call yourself a 'dealer' with no
degree or certification. These people use this term loosely and hold no schooling,
qualification or long term exposure in the market in which to judge a marketable value of
any item being sold. They usually sell in the local flea market on the weekends during the
summer, and sell items that are damaged, questionable or outright reproductions passing as
being old and authentic. At least one shows up every auction. They're usually the
most outspoken critics. Complaining about everything from the prices in which items are
bringing to criticizing the auction process. They'll claim to know everything there is to
know about anything. Amongst other things, these people will: hang around an auction
running up the prices to their competitors, hide items in the bottoms of boxes, steal
items, attempt to buy everything for a dollar and break things when they don't get their
way. Watch these people CLOSELY. Being a 'feeder' for over 5 years, I have a hard time
keeping and eye on them . Be careful, these individuals are experienced in creating
illusions to mask their true purposes.
